New Version (4.1.6) – The πŸ€“ Update

Well, it’s about time to get on with it and clean off the Christmas posts from the front page I suppose. Here we go with the first Stick Nodes update of 2024! While it’s not a “major” update, it still gets its own new post!

  • Bug fix: The show/hide buttons for imported stickfigures is fixed
  • Bug fix: The “Clear filters” button is fixed

  • β˜οΈπŸ€“ Many various convenience changes to certain buttons, fields, and windows
    (See below…)

These minor things include:

  • β˜οΈπŸ€“ Put a search bar on the list in the dialog windows for editing imported figures

Nerd mode?

So, why is this called “The πŸ€“ Update”? Well, it’s because of that one bulletpoint above: “Added option for “Nerd Mode” to the “App Settings” window”.

To be honest, this update is basically a “general minor improvements and conveniences” update, but that doesn’t quite ring as a title. So we decided to focus on the nerd thing instead.

What is the nerd thing you ask? Well, when enabled, it greatly reduces all the yapping in the app – which just gives a cleaner appearance and allows quicker access to much of the UI. It’s for you advanced, grass-adverse users.

Preserve selections

This is what I’d consider one of the major changes here, and it’s a very minor addition. Check “App Settings” for a new toggle to “Preserve selection when changing frames”. This allows you to keep your selection active as you tap across frames – your selected figure/node on each frame (if it exists) stays selected. Allowing you to very quickly change a value on something on multiple frames.

Splitting segments

This was something that was in demand for a long time!

Instead of only being able to split a segment in half, you’re now able to select how many splits you want to make.

Of course, this is only a Creation Mode thing, but I imagine it will help you Jackfly-types with your artistic freedom. Similarly, the new ability to push a branch of nodes back/forward (instead of only segment by segment) will also help a lot as well!

Upcoming Stuff

The next update is already in the works, and I’m targeting as release date of 4/20 for reasons that will soon become clear. Of course there may be one or two minor 4.1.X updates between now and then.

Also, the planning for the next big official collab is already in the works! Well, sort of. Squi keeps sending me questionable GIFs while pushing me to get on with it already.

πŸŽ‰Cheers To Another Year Of Nodes

Scroll to the bottom for the Stick Nodes plans for 2024!

Firstly, congratulations to DownwardGhostly for winning the Rock, Paper, Krampus event – the Christmas website event this holiday season. Below is the final scoreboard as of January 1st, the game ran for (nearly) the entire month of December and the winner was promised a $50 prize.

So, here’s another “yearly roundup” post for you to see today. These past 365 days saw a lot of events on the internet. Back when the year began, Twitter was still Twitter and “Barbie” was just a doll. Later on, Grimace launched his lethal shake and “skibidi” would have made no sense if you were to say that word to someone. (To be honest, it still doesn’t make sense even now but whatever.) But now let’s look back on Stick Nodes specifically.

PSA: For those that don’t know, Stick Nodes also has a pretty bussin’ Reddit and Facebook community no cap fr fr. Check out the top Reddit posts of the year and, well, I’d paste the top Facebook posts of the year if the platform actually allowed a way to view that statistic… But hey at least the group has 15.4k members and counting.

Also, Arcionek manages a smaller #Stickmas2023 event, which is just a general Christmas-themed community event to showcase anything and everything “Stick Nodes but it’s festive”.

πŸ“… December

Log Archive: https://sticknodes.com/members/tastylemon16/activity/1597074/

The website undergoes its usual Christmas decor and Rock, Paper, Krampus launches as the holiday website game, the #Stickmas2023 continues, and scarlet loses her mind due to lack of Spotify.

What Does 2024 Have In Store?

A few things maybe! Updates will continue to the Stick Nodes app. Currently at version 4.1.5, there are a few more 4.X.X updates to add small (and somewhat big) things. But eventually, a 5.0.0 is planned that will change the game.

Early on in this year, the next official Stick Nodes event is planned to occur. What it is however is still in the planning stages, but it could be a sort of tournament instead of a collab! I aim for two solid events, one in the first half, and one in the latter. One of which will be a collab, probably.

Also, later in the year, Stick Nodes will turn 10 years old. Which is to remind you all – you’re all old now. Start paying taxes, realize the government is actually not – nor ever has been – your friend…and in November, vote for Tru-

And of course expect to see the usual drama, experience bizarre twists and turns, watch villain arcs develop, and of course – expect more unrequested photos of a particular dog.

[Week 4] #Stickmas2023 Winners!

πŸŽ… Merry Christmas! πŸŽ…

As December is now upon us, so is the #Stickmas2023! Hope everyone’s in some festive mood this year, as it’s time to put on those silly little red hats and um…WATCH YOUTUBE SHORTS! (Great segue there, arc.)

Week 1 Roundup

Shorts Winners

The first week comes to an end, we’ve gotten a whooping 8 shorts contesting on the first week. That’s nine times more than we expected!

Miscellaneous Highlights

Lucky (@luckyanims) Infraedgrief (@infiniteguess) kurshkovv (@stahlhelmanims)

Honestly, for a first week I’m pretty happy with the results, as my goal was to give spotlight to smaller creators. Maybe we will see more of them in the future – or dare I say, next week? One thing for sure though is, things are gonna get much wilder from here on out. Another week to work on a project can make a huge difference, so I’m excited to see what everyone’s cooking. Although please remember to export it as shorts! While some of the entries didn’t follow that, I allowed it as freebies. As it’s first time we’re doing something like this. From this point onward though – I’ll be much stricter!

Rock, Paper, Krampus!

Although the delay was unexpected (apologies!), start checking up on /activity/, as a new minigame is here! How many times can you win Rock, Paper, Scissors in a row?

Whooping 50$ to the winner. So get to it!

Week 2 Roundup

Shorts Winners

Second Week results have arrived, and with it more creative entries!

Miscellaneous Highlights

FFEJ JP (@ffej-jp) Anim Patchen Ent. (@animpatchenpictures)

Although I appreciate everyone else being considerate and making the review process easy for me… Remember you can only win when you try. Go animate, punching a mall santa or something – That’d be a start. Please?

Week 3 Roundup

Shorts Animation Winners

It’s been a good week, although might ditch “shorts only” since y’all failing at that πŸ’€

Miscellaneous Highlights

Mandona (@Man_dona) TheCraftsManGuy (@thecraftsmanguy) FFEJ JP (@ffej-jp)

Overall… I’m pleasantly suprised by people that are starting to come out with things they’ve been week working hard on for the past month. Impressive stuff really! But it’s soon time to wrap this whole party up,Β  with one last week. Buckle up fellas, since I can’t predict how this event is going to end.

Week 4 Roundup

Animation Winners

The last round of results are here! Ya’ll went hard with the entries for the finale.

Event Addendum

For an experimental event, I’m quite happy with how it ended up turning out. Sure, we didn’t go crazy with promoting it like the other collabs, but it’s partially due to see, how well the event would end up by just the word of mouth. What do you guys think of the more lenient, and week-based christmas format? Opinions would be greatly appreciated, as doing it again in the future is up in the air for debate.

Ralph is preparing to make an additional year summary post at the beginning of January, so keep an eye out for it, maybe with some hints at upcoming updates? *cough* 4.2.0 *cough*

Besides that, among crazy shopping-sprees and loud family gatherings – I hope you guys had time to relax this season and got to enjoy it. I’d like to sincerely wish everyone Merry Christmas, and a promising New Year. See you all later!
